WELCOME COSTA DIADEMA

Costa Cruises "presented” its new ship, the Costa Diadema. She has been built for a 550 million euro at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard.

The Diadema is the 12th cruise ship built in Italy by Fincantieri for Costa Cruises, for a total investment worth more than 5 billion euro, and is largest Italian cruise ship.

The vessel is nicknamed "Queen of Mediterranean” (translated in English, Diadema means "tiara”).

At 132,500 gross tons, 306 meters long and 37 meters wide, the Diadema has 1,845 passenger staterooms and can accommodate up to 4.947 passengers. Costa promised she will be an Ambassador of Italy’s finest offering the best of Italian lifestyle, entertainment, gastronomy and hospitality.

The interiors are described as "even cosier, roomier and more modern in terms of facilities and layout of her public areas. She is a cutting-edge vessel which offers large, split-level rooms directly overlooking the sea and conveniently interconnected, thus evoking the atmosphere of a buzzing Italian seaside resort.”

The outside promenade on deck five is said to be like "a real terrazza all’ italiana,” extending over 500 meters, where passengers can go for a stroll and enjoy the spectacular view over the sea, or relax in one of the several bars and restaurants.

After the delivery, Costa Diadema sailed from Venice on October 30 and reached Trieste, from which her "vernissage cruise” started on 1st November.

On 3th November Costa Diadema came to Dubrovnik.

General Manager of Dubrovnik Port Authority Mr. Antun Asic, welcomed Costa Diadema, wishing Captain Massimo Garbarino and his crew all the best on their future voyage.

On November 7, in the city of Genoa, headquarter of Costa Cruises, will host the Christening event of Costa Diadema. The grand finale of the event will be a light show and fireworks illuminating the sky of Genoa, when Costa Diadema will give her farewell to the city.
