Viking Ocean Cruises’ newest ship, the Viking Sun, called in Dubrovnik on Saturday 7th October.
Dubrovnik Port Authority put together a welcome ceremony for the cruise ship's maiden call. Representatives of Dubrovnik Port Authority exchanged plaques with the Captain Anders Steen during a ceremony onboard.
Viking Sun (launched in 2017) is the 4th in a series of four identical cruise vessels commissioned for Viking Ocean Cruises. The ship is preceeded by Viking Star (2015), Viking Sea (2016) and Viking Sky (February 2017). The newest ship of this series - Viking Orion - is scheduled for launch in 2018. In 2017, Viking Ocean Cruises announced plans for a 9-vessel fleet of identical ships. The remaining 3 liners are scheduled for deliveries in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
Classified as a small cruise ship, Viking Sun has a gross tonnage of 47,842 tons and 465 all-balcony cabins, which can accommodate 930 passengers. She was delivered to Viking Ocean Cruises in late September.
