Viking Ocean Cruises’ newest ship, the Viking Orion,called in Dubrovnik on Thursday 28thJune. Dubrovnik Port Authority put together a welcome ceremony for the cruise ship's maiden call. Representatives of Dubrovnik Port Authority exchanged plaques with the Captain Anders Steen during a ceremony onboard.
The newest shipViking Orion (launched in 2018) is the 5thin a series of fouridentical cruise vessels commissioned forViking Ocean Cruises. The ship is preceded byViking Star(2015), Viking Sea (2016), Viking Sky(2017) and Viking Sun (2017).In 2018, Viking Ocean Cruises announced plans for a 16-vessel fleet of identical ships until 2027. The following ship VIKING JUPITER is expected to call the Port of Dubrovnik in April 2019.
Classified as a small cruise ship, Viking Orion has a
gross tonnage of 47,842 tons and 465 all-balcony cabins, which can accommodate
928 passengers. She was delivered to Viking Ocean Cruises on Thursday May 31st.
