Representatives of the company , " Thompson and Island Cruises' , led by the General Director Mr. Neil Duncan, announced at a press conference held on 07th May , 2014, that the port of Gruz/ Dubrovnik will become in 2015 a homeport for the passenger cruise ship "Thompson Celebration" .
Mr. Duncan showed enthusiasm for fact that Dubrovnik will become homeport for Thompson Celebration and also will offer travelers a unique opportunity to board the ship on this wonderful location.
He added that last five years Thompson Cruises ships are arriving to Dubrovnik and that the satisfaction of their guests is always excellent. Also, he confirmed that Dubrovnik, as a destination, is very popular among customers.
Conference was attended by the General Manager of the Dubrovnik Port Authority Mr. Antun Asic, Director of Luka Dubrovnik Ltd. Mr. Bozidar Memed, representatives of the Dubrovnik Airport and the Ministry of Tourism, director of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board Mrs. Romana Vlasic and Mayor of City of Dubrovnik Mr.Andro Vlahušić. They all expressed their enthusiasm with this venture.
General Manager of the Dubrovnik Port Authority, Mr. Asic said that for the first time since operational coast had been reconstructed, Port of Dubrovnik has opportunity to provide a homeport for larger cruise ships .
Passenger ship „Thompson Celebrity " was built in April, 1984 in French shipyard " Chantiers de l' Atlantique " for a company " Holland America Line ". In the 2005 it has been a change of ownership and change of the official name, so ship " Noordam" became "Thompson Celebration " .
Thomson Celebration will have a total of 26 cruise voyages starting from Dubrovnik Port (Thursdays ) with a passenger turnaround in the port of Dubrovnik .
Thomson Celebration is a cruise ship suitable for families with children, with 1,254 passengers and 520 crew members.
Thomson Cruises has a fleet of five ships: Thomson Celebration, Thomson Dream, Thomson Majesty, Thomson Spirit and Island Escape.
