On behalf of the Port Authority Dubrovnik, Dario Barbarić, who is also a member of the MedCruise Board of Directors, attended the 69th MedCruise General Assembly, held last week in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The General Assembly took place in the year in which MedCruise celebrates 30 years of activity and brought together members to review the Association’s work and take important decisions for its future development. One of the key outcomes was the unanimous approval of 16 amendments to the MedCruise Statute. The amendments modernise communication and organisational provisions, encourage greater member participation, and further emphasise sustainability and the importance of local communities. In particular, sustainability – in its economic, social and environmental dimensions – has been formally included among the objectives of the Association. The amendments also highlight the importance of strengthening port-city relations and promoting cruise tourism that contributes positively to the long-term development of destinations.
MedCruise also expanded its network by welcoming 11 new members – one Regular Member and ten Associate Members.Marmaris Cruise Port from Turkey joined the Association as a Regular Member, while the new Associate Members represent organisations from Morocco, Italy, France, Croatia, Spain and Turkey.
