The 68th MedCruise General Assembly was held in Palermo from 9 to 12 June, hosted by the Port Authority of Western Sicily and marked by the important 30th anniversary of MedCruise This edition has a special significance because MedCruise marks three decades of cooperation between Mediterranean ports and cruise destinations, and special attention is paid to MedCruise's achievements and contribution to strengthening the Mediterranean as a leading global cruise destination.
On behalf of the Port Authority of Dubrovnik, the assembly was attended by Dario Barbarić, Head of the Department for Safety, Development, Maintenance of Port Infrastructure and Environmental Protection, who participated in the meeting of the MedCruise directors and spoke about the achieved results of the Port Authority of Dubrovnik with a special emphasis on the area of safety and security. The assembly brings together MedCruise members, representatives of cruise companies and other stakeholders from the cruise industry. This year, more than 240 representatives, including 27 cruise lines, participated, and more than 700 business meetings were held during the event.
Among the main topics were the impact of current geopolitical events on cruise traffic in the Mediterranean, changing passenger expectations, and the application of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the sector. Participants also discussed the sustainable development of Mediterranean destinations, accessibility, innovation, and strengthening cooperation between ports and cruise lines. MedCruise's annual industry review was presented on the same occasion, with the latest data and trends in the cruise sector.
