Viking Mira Maiden Call at the Port of Gruž in Dubrovnik

Viking Mira Maiden Call at the Port of Gruž in Dubrovnik

On October 31, 2026, the Port of Gruž in Dubrovnik welcomed the cruise ship Viking Mira, marking her maiden call in Dubrovnik. The vessel is a new addition to the Viking Ocean Cruises fleet, delivered in May 2026 and built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy.

A commemorative ceremony was held on board to mark the occasion, during which plaques were exchanged. Captain Marko Šnajdar, Master of Viking Mira, originally from Kostrena, received a plaque on behalf of the Dubrovnik Port Authority from Jelka Tepšić, Deputy Director, while Stijepo Domijan, Cruise and Traffic Coordinator, presented a plaque on behalf of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.

Viking Mira belongs to the category of smaller luxury cruise ships and is distinguished by state-of-the-art technology, elegant design and a distinctive Scandinavian-inspired interior. With a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 GT, a length of 239 metres and a beam of around 31 metres, the ship features 499 passenger cabins and can accommodate up to 998 guests.

One of the ship's distinctive features is its accommodation concept, with all cabins featuring private balconies, allowing guests to enjoy direct views of the sea and the destinations they visit. Onboard facilities include a variety of leisure and entertainment options, such as restaurants, lounges, wellness and spa facilities, swimming pools, and spaces dedicated to cultural and educational programmes.

In her inaugural season, Viking Mira operates itineraries across the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, connecting historic cities, cultural landmarks and attractive coastal destinations.

One of her itineraries, entitled „Venice, the Adriatic & Greece”, is a seven-day voyage connecting Venice and Athens, with calls in Šibenik, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Corfu and Katakolon, the gateway to the ancient site of Olympia.

Prior to arriving in Dubrovnik, the ship called at Šibenik, and following her stay in Dubrovnik, continued her voyage to Kotor, Montenegro.
