MS Douglas Mawson is the newest luxury expedition cruise ship operated by Aurora Expeditions, built in 2025 for voyages to polar regions and other remarkable destinations. The ship is named in honour of the renowned Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson.
The vessel is 104.4 metres long and accommodates up to 154 guests. Thanks to its ice-class certification and the innovative ULSTEIN X-BOW® bow design, MS Douglas Mawson provides safer and more comfortable navigation in challenging sea conditions. Its ice-class rating means that the ship has been specially designed and reinforced for safe operations in polar regions and areas with the presence of sea ice.
The ship features modern cabins and suites, restaurants, a panoramic lounge, a library, a wellness area with a sauna and jacuzzis, a heated outdoor pool, a fitness centre, and a science centre. It is specially equipped for expedition cruising, with dedicated platforms for boarding Zodiac boats, allowing guests easy access to shore during exploration activities.
